Hello corporate yogis! or wait… are you not just one yet ? Well then this International Yoga Day (21st June) it's time to become one! Let's talk about bringing the bliss of holistic well-being in our corporate lives. Let’s take a break from the hustle-bustle & the stresses of our demanding work life & talk about the power of YOGA- the ancient science of mind, body & spiritual well-being. Increasingly becoming popular by the minute, today Yoga is practiced by more than 300 million people all over the world! That's quite a number, isn't it… so how about we talk about the ways in which we can make it an intrinsic part of our corporate work life.
Here are a few reasons why practicing Yoga, in the office (also called office yoga or corporate yoga) can be beneficial:-
1. Keep the employees fit, healthy & active - thereby reducing other healthcare costs.
2. Reduces absenteeism & increases productivity.
3. Creates a harmonious workplace with a positive attitude towards work & life.
4. Relieves stress, increases concentration & improves focus.
5. Overall creates a good moral, better rapport amongst colleagues & a joyous work environment.
Now you must be wondering ‘all this sounds great but…’ what can we do in our daily lives - sitting for hours on the work desk, running from one location to the other, managing meetings, deadlines, demanding clients & balancing the work life… to avail these incredible benefits of Yoga. Well here are a few things you could do:-
1. Enroll in a good corporate wellness program: many companies like us, bring you the best of yoga practitioners & arrange workshops for corporate wellness, where you get to plan your own schedule & choose from a range of wellness services. Our special workshop on laughter yoga or hasna yoga helps in regulating blood pressure, lifting depression and is a great way of rapport formation & socialization amongst colleagues.
2. Some exercises like neck rolls, cat cow stretch, spinal twists etc. can be done at various hours of the day that can help you in improving posture & feeling energized.
3. Meditation & pranayama lessons can be included at the start of the day or as cooling down sessions after the end of a busy day at work.
